OUR
STORY
ABOUT US
Founded in 2010, the ASU Racing Team (ASURT) is a premier student organization based at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University. The organization is proudly student-led, managed primarily by ambitious undergraduate engineers from a wide array of disciplines.
ASURT takes pride in its multidisciplinary approach, welcoming over 200 new students each year from diverse majors and academic levels. This collaborative environment fuels our core mission: the design, development, and construction of advanced electric Formula-style vehicle.
MISSION
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to build one of Egypt’s first electric race cars and be the first team to get it on track, with plans to make it fully autonomous within the next two years.
OUR VISION
Our vision is to establish Egypt as a leading hub in the automotive and mobile robotics technology sector, driving innovation and contributing to the industry's global advancement. By positioning Egypt at the forefront of technological development, we aim to foster substantial growth within the industry, which will, in turn, have a transformative impact on the nation's economic development and global competitiveness.
OUR INITIATIVE
Our initiative aims to cultivate a new generation of youth leaders who possess both the passion and skills necessary to contribute to establishing a pioneering Egyptian research entity with a dedicated division focused on modern automotive engineering.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION
The Formula Student UK competition, organized by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), is one of the world's most prestigious educational engineering events.
THE OBJECTIVE
It challenges university teams to design, manufacture, test, and compete with a formula-style race car while simulating a real-world automotive engineering project.
THE EVALUATION
Throughout the competition, teams are evaluated through a combination of static engineering events, including design evaluation, cost and manufacturing analysis, and business presentation, as well as dynamic track events such as acceleration, skidpad, autocross, and endurance.
THE ULTIMATE TEST
These challenges assess not only the technical performance of the vehicle but also the quality of the engineering decisions, innovation, and teamwork behind its development.
AWARDS
We were honored by the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, as the best youth organization.
We were honored as the Best Youth Organization by the YLF.
We were honored by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology after achieving first place — concept class in the Formula Student UK competition, becoming the first Egyptian university to attain such an accomplishment.

ASU ROAR
ROAR (Remotely Operated Autonomous Rover) is a student-led project at ASU, now entering its fourth year of development. The team started as a graduation project for the first two years and has evolved into something bigger, a fully established competition team, committed to long-term participation in global space robotics challenges. This year, we aim to make history as the first Egyptian and African team to win the on-site competition at ERC. Our mission is not just to participate, but to pave the way for future teams in the region.
TEAM STRUCTURE
Mechanical Team
Builds the rover’s chassis, wheels, drilling and storage mechanisms, and drivetrain, ensuring it’s light, durable, and agile.
Electrical & Low-Level Control Team
Designs power systems, wiring, PCBs, and integrates sensors & actuators.
Autonomous Systems Team
Develops perception, localization, path planning, and control algorithms using ROS and robotics simulations.
Robotics Team
Focuses on the manipulator (robotic arm) and interchangeable end effector tools for different tasks.
Drone Team
Focuses on designing a fully functional drone.
Shell Eco-marathon
Our team proudly competes in the Shell Eco-marathon, a global challenge that tasks students with designing ultra-efficient vehicles. We focus on lightweight manufacturing and sustainable energy solutions to achieve maximum distance on the least amount of energy.
